A life-long artist, Amy takes inspiration from the textural specificity of natural elements as well as the vastness of wilderness; the night sky, the horizon separating sea and space and the seasons' round. Considering her work with the creative muse as central to her being, she values and uses her art making as a tool of personal transformation. She is fascinated by materials and has worked in mediums as diverse as glass blowing and book binding and works on paper. Her passion for technique has her endlessly experimenting with different processes and she delights in mastering them.
She is happiest when she is having a creative surge and feels like a mad scientist when exploring a new vein of creative endeavor. Her studio is both her laboratory and her temple. In her work she is often compelled to create space. Amy's recent series of large hand-built ceramics aren't so much pots as vessels that hold space.
